Last weekend the hubby and I made a Friday afternoon decision to head out to the desert for a weekend getaway (we stayed at our fav place La Quinta Resort and Spa)! If you know me you know I am a planner… spontaneity is not one of my strong suits. If I am going on vacation I know what I am bringing several weeks before it’s time to begin packing. Yet, as I am trying to welcome more spontaneity into my life, that means I have to be more flexible. So that meant I pretty much packed half of my closet (okay, well not really half) in hopes that I could make a somewhat decent outfit out of the pieces I had grabbed (several dresses, couple pairs of shorts, tops, and shoes).

On the drive out we decided to dine at our favorite mexican food restaurant in the area, Las Casuelas , and enjoy some tequila and salsa! When it came time to decide on the outfit it didn’t feel right to be wearing a red wrap dress to a casual and laid back mexican restaurant. I decided that the cut off shorts, paired with my favorite lace top (last featured here), glitter flats (last featured here), with fun gold jewelry would be a suitable fit. Yes, I had decided that it would be a perfect balance between casual and chic.

Two items that I have to recommend are the turquoise ring AND the sandals! If you haven’t made the leap to purchase these adorable glitter sandals from target, you MUST! They add just the right amount of glitz to any outfit, casual or glamourous. I can’t rave enough about the ring either, and wear it way too much! I love the shape, and the color goes with just about anything… at least that’s what I tell myself!
