6 Linen Pieces To Complete A Summer Wardrobe

Aside from soft cotton, I’d have to say one of my favorite summer fabrics is linen: shorts, skirts, tops, dresses. You name it, and my closet has it.

This spring, when I was getting tired of the cooler weather, I decided to pull out my favorite linen pants and pair them with my a sneakers and sweatshirt combo. I wasn’t sure what the end result would be, but it made me fall in love with linen even more…. sneakers, sandals, it’s a pretty versatile material.

Yes, there is no mistaking that linen (aside from silk) just might be the most wrinkly fabric out there, but it’s also the best for a laid back, casually elevated, look. So to me, it’s worth the time it’s going to take to steam/iron it.

Given all of that, I’ve rounded up the 6 types of linen pieces I think complete a summer wardrobe below… and these are also the linen pieces I’ll continue to pull for this summer season as well.

And with that, I hope everyone has a wonderful day ahead!
____

LINEN SHORTS

(Shorts, Tank, Bag)

(Shorts, Vest, Sandals (10% off with code itsybitsyindulgences10))

(Shorts, Tank, Same Style Sneaker, Different Color)

Linen shorts are definitely one of my go-to’s in the warmer months- the fabric is breathable and feels elevated for the summer season. I have 3 pairs I tend to reach more the most.

This oatmeal pair from Reformation, that I have for almost 5 years (they come out with different versions of it each year, so I refreshed my pair this season…), this longer drawstring pair (great if you want a longer inseam and more coverage, plus I love the oatmeal stripes), and this black pair from J.Crew (these don’t feel like a true linen, but are still very comfortable).

LINEN POPOVER DRESS

(Dress, Sweater, Espadrilles, Bag, Earrings)

This popover linen dress is a newer piece this year, but I absolutely love how effortless and versatile it is…. you can wear it with sandals, espadrilles, or a short heel depending on the occasion. It comes in so many different color options, and is lined as well (so the white isn’t see through).

I purchased this little black linen dress last summer, and brought it along on several drops (I also own it in the stripe version). I found an almost identical, under $50 option. If you have any warm weather trips planned for this summer, this is a really easy option to toss in the suitcase.

LINEN PANTS

(Pants, Top, Sandals)

(Linen Pants (another almost identical option), Bag (10% off with code MCMItsybitsy))

(Trouser Pants, Belt, Tank, Sandals)

I’m a huge fan of linen pants, particularly in the spring season when the weather isn’t quite warm enough for shorts, but you don’t want to wear jeans.

The Olina Linen pants from Reformation have a drawstring waist, and loose leg, fit and I’ve had mine for over a year now. They come in petite, and “regular,” inseam options. This is another great pair as well.

The Fernando pants from Reformation have a wider leg fit, elastic waist, and a cuffed hem, which give them a slightly different fit and feel than the Olinas.

And lastly, these trouser linen pants from Aritzia are a wonderful, dressier, option. They’re great for an office setting as well. They come in various inseam options.

LINEN SKIRT

(Skirt, Tank)

(Skort (under $30 option), Tank)

A linen skirt is a wonderful in between option when you don’t want to wear shorts or pants. I purchased both of these for our Italy trip last summer and they were such great pieces. You can dress them up or down, depending on the occasion as well.

LINEN VEST

(Shorts, Vest, Sandals (10% off with code itsybitsyindulgences10))

(Vest, Shorts, Bag)

I wrote all about vests in this post, but my two favorite linen options include this longer, double button, vest and this shorter linen vest. Both are versatile, so a great piece to have in your summer wardrobe.

LINEN TOPS

(Top)

(Top, Jeans, Sandals, Jacket)

And lastly, I a good linen top is the perfect addition to any bottom for the spring and summer season.

This button down linen top was a purchase I made last summer, and I wore it with skirts, shorts, linen pants, and jeans.

Same goes for this cropped linen top. It was an item I packed with me to Playa Del Carmen, and I wore it with a satin skirt for a gala night, but most recently paired it with an ivory denim skirt and then black jeans for a night away. It’s an easy piece to toss on with just about anything this upcoming season.
