I’m getting my hair done today, and as I was trying to think about doing something different with the color, I had to think back to when the last time I got my hair done. May. Four months ago. May seems like it was so long ago, yet it also seems as if it was just yesterday. Right after Mother’s Day, on the brink of the summer season… and now here we are, right after Labor Day, more than halfway through September, a day away from the fall season. It’s amazing how much can change in four months…
And whenever seasons start to shift, some of my go-to retailers always have their best sales. Madewell always has some of my favorite basics for all seasons… and as I mentioned in yesterday’s post they’re currently having a their loyalty insider event where you can get 20-25% off (and an extra day $25 off $100+ with code LTK25 until 9/21) depending on your insider status (it’s super easy, you just have to sign up on their site). So today I thought I would share a few of the items that I own, and think would make great fall staples (If you’re in the market, great. If not, hopefully this post can act as inspo for ways to dress similar pieces you might already own).
One piece that isn’t included below, that I purchased during their insider event last year, is this incredibly soft vintage leather jacket. It comes in several different colors and if you’re in the market for an excellent quality leather jacket then this is a wonderful option (I own it in the dried cedar color, but if you don’t have a black leather jacket, then I would recommend that shade since I do find black to be a little more versatile).
I also purchased these trainer sneakers last season and they’ve been a go-to in the shoe department ever since. When I first purchased them I almost sent them back because my initial reaction was that they were too heavy. Yet once I tried them on and walked around a bit, I realized how comfortable they were. If you’re debating between this pair and the J. Crew option I shared last week I wanted to note a few differences. The J.Crew pair is lighter in weight and has a more streamlined/chic look, while this Madewell pair is heavier (although equally as comfortable) and has a more “dad’ sneaker look to them. So it comes down to personal preference…
I had also been on the search for a thicker herringbone necklace to layer with my daintier pieces and this one is so good… the perfect width, great quality, 3 different lengths to choose from, and a great price point (under the $40).
This button down cardigan also hangs beautifully. At first I wasn’t sure how it was going to look, but once I put it on I knew that it would be a versatile item for this fall/winter.
I’m sharing sizing info for all the other items below.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
