I don’t know about you, but I am not made of money. But I don’t think that ever has to prevent us ladies (or men, for that matter) from looking just the way we want to look! So when I shop, I am always looking for those classic pieces that are going to last, and that are versatile enough to be worn several times, without my friends asking me “didn’t you wear that last week?” To me, there’s nothing better than a piece that is so versatile that it transforms and is transformed when combined with different looks. And that’s where today’s outfit’s inspiration came from-some of my favorite classic pieces…with a twist!

Nothing beats a black maxi skirt for  fickle California weather! A staple in any gal’s closet, I opted for this movable, comfy option. Plus, is there anything it doesn’t go with? It can go between various occasions (casual work day, lunch with the girls, a day shopping, wine tasting…you get the idea) and is practically a blank canvas! It was also super windy this day (hence the bun), so I felt confident that this skirt would be a safe bet.

This Heart top is girly and light-just the look I was going for. When I first saw it in person I realized the effect it has on the eyes, which I was immediately attracted to. And I love having it peek-a-boo under the classic denim jacket. A good denim jacket is one of my favorite classic pieces because it literally transitions flawlessly between and throughout every single season and has the ability to make any outfit cute, casual, and chic.

The outfit needed a bit of pizazz, so I added some sparkle with this necklace, which is a go-to for brightening any outfit. There’s something about a sparkly accessory that makes any outfit look like you put a lot of work into it! This midi ring is classic in its size and neutral gold color. Its delightfully dainty size makes it the perfect addition to any outfit. I added a bright pop of color with my favorite Kate Spade NY bag. It may be bright, but I just feel like there is something so classic and sophisticated about a solid red bag. I can remember my mom loving red handbags, and it makes me feel even more like a woman having adopted that love!

Using these classic pieces and adding touches of sparkle, color, and pattern is effortless, versatile, and fun! And I think we all have more classic pieces than we think!
