I’ve always loved packing for trips and quick getaways. Since each destination typically has it’s own “style” I always find it a fun challenge to find items that fit the locale, while still remaining true to my individual sense of style. This past weekend was no exception. And while Palm Springs is often known for it’s bright hues + retro vibes (most of the hotels and structures have a very retro feel), I knew it would be possible to obtain a similar look without going completely out of my comfort zone…. since I still wanted practical + laid back.

As I began compiling my packing list, I knew Urban Outfitters would be a great place to start…. and I had to reign myself in a little. I ended up deciding on a relatively neutral outfit (surprise surprise) for our last morning’s brunch, but added some texture with this feminine lace top…. and these high waisted denim shorts are always a safe bet since they go with anything. These little gold metallic sandals and macrame bag gave me the retro look without being over the top… and were incredibly practical since I could run after little miss all morning long in comfort, and pretty much carry my life in the oversized macrame tote (literally, I think two purse loads can fit into this amazing tote….). I also brought along this gorgeous white pointelle pullover, in case the mornings or evenings were chilly… but in true desert fashion, it was pretty hot and no extra layers were required…..

I also think this maxi dress is beautiful for summer!
