21 Favorite Outfits From 2021

I went on a major purge of my closet, and some other parts around the house, yesterday. It was relatively impromptu… there were many other things that required my attention… but when I did a vacuum lap around our house on Tuesday evening (and was trying to get some things organized in my closet after filming a reel) I just decided it was purge time. I told myself to just start with a pile in my closet that I knew needed to be organized, but it snowballed, and once I started I just couldn’t stop. There’s a hallway storage cabinet that has my name *all* over it for today… and I told TJ that priority on our list of home projects this year needs to be getting an organizational system installed into our master bedroom (it’s been “complete” for 2.5 years now… but we never decided on a company to go with for the closets… it all seemed so expensive.).

I compiled my favorite outfits of 2021 last week, and as I was purging, realized how much I loved the pieces, and how frequently I pulled for them. I think I appreciate all the outfits below for their versatility… easy to wear across multiple occasions (not everything, but the majority), comfortable, and overall pretty simple. And… it sort of made me want to pull out some of those summer favorites… which isn’t all that impractical since it’s in the high 70’s over the next few days (tomorrow being the exception)….

We’ll also be on baby watch this coming weekend… my sister is so close to her due date and her doctor told her yesterday she would be “shocked” if she made it to her next apt (1/19).

I hope you all have a great, long, weekend ahead!

(Jeans (size down 2), Bodysuit, Cardigan (also this option), Slides (15% off with code SHANNON15))

I wore this outfit on our road trip up to CA coast. It was nice and cool in Carmel, and these pieces were the perfect combo (also wore it to the Monterey Bay Aquarium). The slides are buttery soft, the jeans were loose and comfy, and the cozy oversized cardigan kept me nice and warm….

(Joggers (similar option), Top, Cardigan (similar option), Slides)

I wore this combo countless times over the past year… but this was on our first getaway, since the beginning of 2020, to San Diego. Everything was soft and comfortable for the quick drive home.

(Bathing Suit, Skirt)

Possibly one of my favorite cover-up skirts (purchased it for a trip to Hawaii n 2019) and loved being able to finally wear it again. This outfit was from our summer trip to Santa Barbara….

(Jeans, Top sold out, Lexy style from Sezane)

This top was probably one of my most worn pieces during the summer… loved how it could be dressed down or up… and the material was light and airy, perfect for the summer temps. I wore this outfit out on a happy hour boat ride with the family….

(Similar Shirt Jacket, Leggings)

When temps began to cool, this jacket was one of my first purchases for fall… loved how comfortable, casual, and versatile it was. This was from our fall trip to Park City….

(Jacket (I went with the petite size), Leggings, Beanie, Boots)

For our winter trip to Park City, we were lucky enough for some snow… and this puffer coat and boots kept me nice and warm. We don’t get temps like this in So. Cal (well, you can in the mountains…), so it’s always a trip I look forward too… I like (temporarily, I’m sure it gets old if you live in it….) having to layer up to stay warm….

(Skirt, Top (charcoal on sale here), Shoes)

I wore this outfit for my sister’s baby shower… I wanted something that would be comfortable in the 90 degree temperature, but still looked pulled together. Love the sweater skirt and the smocked top looks great with jeans as well… and the heels are low enough that they’re comfortable enough to wear for hours.

(Pants, Top)

When we celebrated TJ’s 40th birthday, at home, we wanted to have a casual and relaxed atmosphere. So the attire was comfy chic… and these two pieces fit the bill.

(Shorts, Top (sold out, Sezane, Lexy Style), Cardigan (similar style here))

I wore this outfit to “meet the teacher” back in August and it was perfect… the linen shorts (I own in oatmeal as well) are a step up from denim shorts and the ruffled blouse made the shorts less casual…. can’t wait to repeat this summer!

(Dress, Slides (15% off with code SHANNON15))

Wore this breezy blush dress a few times this summer… but this particular photo was from my sister’s birthday celebration. We had a babysitter, so it was just adults, and a dress always feels fun when I don’t have to run after little ones.

(Jeans, Bodysuit)

Another favorite from our fall Park City trip… these straight legged jeans and mesh bodysuit were perfect for a Happy Hour to celebrate TJ’s 40th.

(Joggers, Top, Sweater Coat (sold out, similar option))

Lived in outfits like this (okay, I still do) in 2020 and the first half of 2021 and this photo was from an outfit in January 2020. It’s still 100% an outfit I would wear now.

(Shirt Jacket, Half Zip (similar), Joggers (similar))

Another very early 2021 outfit, but an outfit I just wore last week. I actually remember this day… I needed to get out of the house, needed to put shoes on, so I put the girls in the car and we just went for a drive.

(Sweater (similar option), Jeans)

Maybe one of my favorite memories from 2021 (along with outfits)… when we were able to escape for 24 hours to Malibu, just TJ me I. After the past couple of years, I’ll never take that for granted.

(Boots, Jeans, Sweater, Bag)

I wore this outfit when we went ice skating at The Hotel Del this holiday season. It was something we put on our bucket list, and it was such a great time. This warm sweater was perfect for the cooler temps.

(Vest, Joggers, Sneakers, Bag)

Another easy travel, and everyday outfit. I initially wore it on a drive down to San Diego…. I think I’ve worn this exact outfit 10-12 times over the past 6 weeks. It’s comfortable, keeps me warm, and easy to throw on and go.

(Jeans, Top)

Another favorite outfit from our trip to Santa Barbara… I love the floral print on this top, and how to looser, distressed pants, create a laid back, casual look… while still looking pulled together. I wore this outfit to a happy hour at the hotel.

(Coatigan, Jeans, Scarf)

Anything with this coatigan is a favorite… I love how it pulls together any outfit. This was an outfit from December’s capsule… but love how to oversized cashmere wrap adds a cozy touch.

(Shorts (sold out, free people), tank, cardigan)

These sweater shorts were another “most worn” item over the summer… another non-denim shorts option that elevated any outfit. I wore this particular outfit to brunch at the beach, and my go-to cardigan was perfect for the cool morning (this was early September).

(Two Piece (sold out, Reformation, Molly Style))

Loved this super easy two piece ribbed set… it was perfect for date nights, and casual daytime lunches. I wore this for a birthday lunch for my mom.

(Pants, Sweater, Earrings)

This was a holiday look I wore to The Nutcracker, but I think it would be so beautiful for a dressier date night or girl’s night out… the pants are a beautiful satin material (I had to get mine hemmed) and the sweater is versatile and cute with jeans as well.
