Well, wanderlust has struck again. It never takes long… typically after a couple weeks of being home, the bug takes over. Yet, without any plans to pack up and go anytime soon, I’m satisfying this urge by daydreaming (although, this is probably just exacerbating it….). I’ve been perusing pinterest and instagram, lusting over locales that are covered in fall colors, waiting for their first blanket of snow. I thought I’d share my short list, of cold weather destinations, that I am dying to visit… in case you’re looking to head somewhere soon!
1. Lake Tahoe, CA: This is a recent destination that I’ve been wanting to visit. I’d love to take Harper to the snow, lace up a pair of ice skates, take a spin around the ice rink at Northstar Ski Resort, and sip hot coco around a fire pit. A half day on the slopes wouldn’t be too shabby either…. There are so many lodging options, from cozy hotels to cabin rentals… It would be a great family spot.
2. Deer Valley, Utah: This is currently at the top of my short list. From all the photos I have seen, it looks like a quintessential winter wonderland. If I could plan the perfect trip, it would be to stay at The Montage, enjoy some pinot (or champagne… either will be just fine) by the in room fireplace…. and roast s’mores at the outdoor fire pit. I mean, does it really get any better than that?? I also think the main street looks so cute!
3: Portland, Oregon: The last time I was in Oregon was for a friend’s wedding, and I wished we had more time to explore. It’s been on my list for a while now. A few of the reasons why? Well, for starters, I’d love to do a little wine tasting of the Oregon Pinot’s. I’ve heard the SE Wine Collective is a pretty great spot to do so. I know TJ would love to try out some of the local beer brews as well. A long run along the river would be on my list, immediately followed by a trip to Salt + Straw…. oh, and I’d probably not be one to pass up a doughnut from Voodoo (I’m just saying….).
4. Seattle, WA: So, while I know I wouldn’t get the snow… I would probably get rain (right??). The last time I was there (again, for a wedding), it was too short. This time, I would love to take our time and enjoy in all the sights. Meandering through Pike Place Market, with a chai tea latte in hand, sounds quite delightful to me!
Annnnd, of course, with all that cold weather traveling, you’d want the attire to be just right to keep you toasty. Don’t worry, I got you covered. This sweater is all sorts of cozy (serious.). When I first ordered it I thought it might be itchy… nope. Actually, it’s something I’d happily sleep in (it’s a tad too nice for that though). It’s roomy enough to fit a long sleeve tee underneath (if the temps are that cold)… but can also, comfortably, be layered underneath a coat. The color is gorgeous for fall and pairs nicely with so many different hues (olive, camel, black, tan, grey….). A few other favorites in my beloved Pinot color include this bell sleeved tunic sweater, a gorgeous midi cardigan, a cowl neck tunic, simple long sleeved v-neck sweater, and this ribbed poncho.
Happy travels (or wanderlusting….).
