I first stumbled across this little dress when I was preparing for our last trip to Hawaii. I was looking for something simple and versatile, yet chic at the same time. When I saw it in white, I knew it would be perfect for an evening sipping Mai Tais. Upon my return, I continued to wear it out to lunch, and even running errands with a comfy pair of kicks. As fall styles began to set in, I couldn’t help but snag it in black. I love that it can transition me from day to night with the simple addition of this utility jacket… which essentially creates one of my favorite balanced combinations: a simple dress + structured jacket. Pretty much ideal for any situation… and you better bet I’ll be wearing it for a little happy hour sipping (because that’s about as crazy as I get over here these days) or Sunday brunching.

If you’re looking for a great dress + jacket combo, Nordstrom has some excellent options. I think this moto suede jacket (which is gorgeous) pairs perfectly with this multicolored knit dress and this strappy lace up midi dress. I own this dress and will likely pair it with this suede moto jacket come fall. And, can you really leave out a leather jacket? Pair it with this cutout midi, simple dolman dress, or this cute striped number. Either way you go, it’ll be a winning combination.
