Basics. I love them…. and my love has likely grown stronger over the past months since little miss’ arrival. It’s not that I don’t love some fancy pieces here and there, it’s just that there is power in the basics. For me, good basics can be dressed up and down, take me from one event to the other, and keep me feeling pulled together during a regular ol’ day. Take this top for example. I purchased it for our wine country trip a couple of weekends ago, and wore it throughout the day with a wide brimmed hat and cute scalloped shorts…. yet, love it dressed up a little with these espadrilles and favorite pair of high waisted distressed jeans…. and I’ve also worn it with my tried and true distressed shorts… you get the point.
I’ve always found some of my favorite basics from the Trend department at Nordstrom. I love that the pieces are excellent quality, a smart price point (a lot are under $100), and versatile (pieces for pretty much any occasion). If you’re looking for some elevated basics, I’ve rounded up my favorite white tops and jeans below:
White Top (because you can never have too many!):
I love this white peplum top and lace up pom top as pieces that are a little dressier than a basic tee (kind of like the top I am wearing). Wear them to lunch, a play date, or a night out with the hubs or ladies. For basic tees that are not so basic I think this button up linen tank takes the cake, as well as this raw edge handkerchief tank, and white swing tank. I’m also liking this long sleeve version as an excellent option for fall (love the relaxed shape).
Jeans (because…. I live in them 95% of the time!):
I own this pair of distressed slim boyfriend jeans and they are super soft and comfortable… I’ve worn them with sandals for running errands and a pair of pumps for a night out. I also love this high waisted, raw hem pair and think they are an excellent price. This pair of cropped distressed jeans are pretty great as well!
