Little White Dress: Goodbye Summer Rut

little white dress, itsy bitsy indulgences

A rut. They’re so darn easy to fall into. For me, it typically happens when monotony sets in… you know, the same thing day after day. Don’t get me wrong, I like routine. I thrive on routine…. but sometimes it gets to be too much. A workout rut (I wrote about that here), a food rut (guilty as charged… oatmeal queen over here!), a clothing rut. Clothing rut. Yes… as in “Hi, my name is Shannon and I have an addiction to cut-offs and a tee right now.” Not that there is anything wrong with that. They’re comfortable, casual, and chic (a little alliteration for you…)… the perfect piece for everyday. Yet, when I want to break out of that rut, without getting too crazy, then this is the outfit I opt for…. a simple shift dress, my new favorite platform espadrille kicks, and a favorite summer hat….

And… speaking of getting out of ruts, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the perfect opportunity to do so. Early access starts today, and I’ll be sharing my favorites tomorrow morning. Let me know if there is anything in particular you’d like to see.

Super Cute! What cami are you wearing under your dress?

    • Shannon Pulsifer says:

Thank you Alicia! I am wearing a bandeau under the dress. Since I am still nursing, wearing a regular strapless bra is difficult, so I opt for a bandeau. I hope that helps!

      • So chic! Any other pointers for a FTM on avoiding the clothing rut while nursing? I find “easy access” tops and dresses to be hard to come by!

        • Shannon Pulsifer says:

It’s so hard! Honestly, I got to a point where I just decided that I was going to wear what I wanted to wear and just make accommodations. If I want to wear a dress, I just bring shorts and put them on underneath (probably looks strange, but whatever!), and I try to wear off the shoulder tops as they are stylish and easy to pull down. I also think there are some cute button-ups out there… and when all else fails, I just wear what I want and pull up my shirt and use a nursing cover. I hope that helps a little. I did two roundups of nursing options (that weren’t nursing options). I think if you search nursing options they should come up.
