Weekend Recap: Welcome to 2016

babettes newport beach, itsy bitsy indulgences {Birthday brunch at Babette’s}

Well, that was one Christmas season! From festive family gatherings and indulgent meals, to a birthday, New Years, and continued baby watch… it was one for the books. I always love the holiday season, and often feel a small sense of sadness when it comes to a close. Yet, I find myself energized for this new year… with the eventual welcoming of our little girl (she’s a stubborn one already!… I guess she’s cozy where she is!),  fun trips already scheduled, and getting back into a scheduled fitness routine (more about that here) I’m ready for what 2016 has in store! I wanted to take this chance to let you know what you can expect to see from the blog this year! As I enter into the fourth year of the blog, I’m hoping to make it one of the best yet!

Fashion: This year, fashion will continue to be a focus of the blog. I’ve always felt that fashion is an outward expression of ourselves, and that balancing both high end and bargain pieces is important. I will continue to combine the two and find similar cheaper options for splurge pieces when possible. I hope to continue to feature accessible looks for everyday life, a few glamorous pieces (you know, for those fun occasions), and to throw in a few mother-daughter looks as well (if she ever gets here!! #impatientmamma). I also hope to include a few hair tutorials (as requested) and some everyday beauty basics including skin care, make-up, and products.

Balanced Living: As always, the ways in which I try to live as balanced of a life as possible will be incorporated. I am hoping to become more inspired in the kitchen this year, as pregnancy aversions and cravings subside. I want to feature cocktails again and a champagne guide. I’ll share my post-pregnancy fitness journey, the struggles that may come with it, and the ways that I round that out with favorite food products, meal plans, and those itsy bitsy indulgences (i.e. champagne, chocolate, and such….). My personal goal is to train for a fourth half marathon, and I’d love to inspire and document that here. Balanced living always includes life in general, so I hope to provide some updates as to how I am transitioning into motherhood… the struggles, the joys, and the little tricks I find along the way… as well as favorite products I’ve discovered.

Travel: With trips already planned (a Los Olivos weekend in February, an anniversary trip in March, and Hawaii in May) I’m hoping to bring up to date trip guides from some of our favorite spots. I look forward to sharing how to travel with a baby (as this will be new to me as well), and local weekend adventures for families.

As always, I love to hear about what you want! I enjoy receiving e-mails with requests for certain posts, so please feel free to do so if there is something you’d love to see featured here… it actually helps the process! I hope you’ll join me on this journey in 2016… I think it’s going to be one filled with adventure!

New Year’s resolution revolve around fitness?? Check out my favorite fitness posts here, here, and here. Does it have anything to do with healthy eating? Check out my favorite super-food bowls or this yummy chia seed pudding recipe… or this yummy beet salad!

I’ve always believed that some new fitness gear can inspire! So I’m eyeing this good vibes tank, fun leggings, a stripe top to layer on those cool mornings, a sleek layering vest (for during and after a work-out), and a sweatshirt with a pretty perfect motto!

Lastly, as usual, I can never resist perusing on-line sales… so I thought I would share a few favorites with you! I’m loving these distressed denim jeans, this chambray top, studded black booties, and this long cardigan perfect for the weekend!

  1. Babettes looks adorable! Love that they leave blankets with the tables in case you get cold. Justin’s PB cups are the BEST!

      Yes! the blankets were a perfect touch… because it was actually quite chilly outside!! And those PB cups are amazing!
