Christmas Morning Tradition: Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Ever since I was little we’ve had the same family tradition. We’d wake up, dad would get the video camera ready (the size of said video camera has become drastically smaller over the years) and then we would marvel at the presents from Santa… that was immediately followed by a delicious morning breakfast of hot chocolate and homemade cinnamon rolls. The warm, sugary, gooey goodness was just what was needed for a festive and joyous Christmas morning. When TJ and I got married, it was a tradition I introduced to our marriage, and one he happily obliged too. Over the years a little Bailey’s has been added to said hot coco, but this year, it will remain pure for at least one of us! There is something magical about Christmas morning. It’s likely the fact that we are celebrating the birth of Jesus, combined with the love of family and little indulgences that come with the day. Either way, sitting with those you love, in cozy pajamas, and a delicious breakfast are the perfect way to start the day! Christmas Morning Tradition: Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

The easiest cinnamon roll recipe for a festive morning!
  • Cinnamon Rolls:
  • 1 loaf of dough (I used Bridgeford Dough)
  • 1/4-1/2 cup of dairy free butter (or regular if you prefer)
  • A mixture of cinnamon and sugar to your liking
  • Frosting:
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3 cups confectioner’s sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsp milk
  1. For Cinnamon Rolls:
  2. Spray a cooking dish (size based on how many cinnamon rolls you will be making)
  3. Flatten out the dough so that it is in a rectangular shape
  4. Spread melted butter over the dough with a basting brush
  5. Generously sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar over the dough
  6. Roll the dough, length wise so that it looks like a long cylinder
  7. Cut with scissors into 6 pieces
  8. Place the pieces into the baking dish, cover with plastic wrap, and place in the refrigerator over night.
  9. In the morning, pre-heat oven to 350. Cook cinnamon rolls, covered with tin foil, for 30 minutes, or until slightly golden brown on top.
  10. For Frosting:
  11. Combine all ingredients in a mixer and mix together.
  12. To complete cinnamon rolls:
  13. Once the cinnamon rolls have cooked, immediately frost them. Enjoy warm!
