Weekend Recap: Thanksgiving

thanksgiving morning breakfast{Thanksgiving morning breakfast for two: green juice, tea, iced coffee, bowl of berries, and vegan sticky buns.}

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving has already come and gone. This is my absolute favorite time of year, and I often find that I want to pause life, or at least dramatically slow it down, in order to savor each unique holiday experience. I love the preparation that goes into the traditions of each holiday. As we packed up and headed up to Santa Ynez the preparations were in full effect. Conversations went along these lines: “Did you remember to pack The Girswold’s Family Christmas?” “We can’t forget the clothes for the Christmas Photos.” “Did you remember the ingredients for your signature dish?” And it’s those very traditions that made this alternative holiday still feel like Thanksgiving. That’s what makes traditions special… why when TJ and I got married we began to make our own traditions. I guess they are like a thumb print… they are what makes you and your family uniquely you. We hope you all had a wonderful holiday! Stay tuned later this week for a recap of Allison’s New York trip 🙂

And… if I’m being completely honest, this week was so busy with preparations that I forgot to write in my gratitude journal. Overall, I would say that I was so blessed to have a week off of work to spend with friends and family that I otherwise would not have been able to spend as much quality time with! An overall gratitude for the trip we were able to take, safe travels, and the rain that graced Southern California with it’s presence!
